Biography
Science Park, the one-man synth pop project of Myke Weiskopf, began as a response to "the shifting role of technology." Influenced more by shortwave radio and early electronic music than the presumed sounds of new wave, Weiskopf first started writing songs at the age of ten. He finally released his (now out of print) self-titled debut in 1997 on his own Obscure-Disk records. 1999's Futurama, named after a 1940 World's Fair exhibit, received praise in the Boston area, resulting in a nomination by the ~Boston Phoenix for Best New Local Act. After financial difficulties resulting from the recording of Futurama, as well as discouragement in playing live, Weiskopf ceased to write or perform for nearly a year, until Japan's Motorway records offered to release his work.
